Guiding the District’s participation in the nation’s 250th anniversary.

Overview

Mayor Muriel Bowser established [Mayors Order] the DC250 Commission as the central body of the District government for planning, coordinating, and implementing District government and District government-sponsored events and activities surrounding America’s 250th anniversary celebrations and events. The 250 Commission brings together District leadership, community representatives, and partners to guide Washington, DC’s role in the nation’s 250th anniversary, highlighting DC history and resident as part of national, regional, and local celebrations and events.

The Commission supports a coordinated, citywide approach that connects national moments with neighborhood experiences across all eight wards. 

The Commission helps guide: 

  • Engagement with DC community, business, and cultural partners 
  • Alignment of DC250 events and programming across the city 
  • Opportunities for residents and local businesses to participate
